During ballastoperations part of the cargo of aluminium drost came in contact with water. Aluminium drost (class 4.3) reacted with the water resulting in the emission of flammable hydrogen gas and ammonia. (MV Hvassafeld, Port of Rotterdam) We provided chemical advises on how to stabilize the cargo and took overall safety measures during offloading.
